It has become a favorite wherever people discovered that oryzanol compounds reduce cholesterol absorption and thereby support overall wellbeing. Unfortunately, it remains underused in everyday cooking in our region.
The key components, gamma oryzanol and ferulic acid, soften the skin, provide anti inflammatory benefits, and help shield it from environmental stress and UV rays.
It is obtained by cold pressing carefully dried rose hips from wild rose species, most often Rosa canina and R. rubiginosa, also known as R. eglanteria, as well as R. moschata, R. villosa, R. rugosa and other related species. The oil ranges from golden red to deep red, a natural shade that comes from the fruit’s carotenoids. It is the seeds, rather than the fleshy shell, that yield this precious oil. Oil of Chilean wild rose, also known as Rosa mosqueta, is pressed from R. rubiginosa and R. canina, and less commonly from R. moschata. These species usually grow wild together in the southern Andes, so their fruits are often harvested as a mix and pressed into a single oil. The oil is exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and carotenoids.
This oil, like macadamia and avocado oils, is fast absorbing. It has a gently sweet, nutty aroma, although some hazelnut varieties produce an entirely neutral scent, and it offers a refined, silky texture. Its vitamin E content lends notable stability.
Thanks to its triterpenes, it is well suited to oily skin with sluggish circulation and a tendency to breakouts, to sensitive skin prone to redness, and to skin that lacks moisture.
Carefully cold pressed from apricot kernels.
This oil is exceptionally rich in vitamin A and linoleic acid. It restores, hydrates, and revitalizes the skin.
Ideal for sensitive, dry, dehydrated, and mature skin.
