What is conscious parenting?

Conscious parenting is not a checklist of rules for parents to follow. It is a set of beliefs about what children need in order to grow and thrive.

I invite you to step outside the traditional parenting mindset and reconsider everything you thought you knew about how children learn and what they need to become mature, responsible adults.

Only in this way will you learn to engage and connect with your children through emotional intelligence rather than punitive measures.

This does not require you to abandon every parenting practice you have used. It asks that you shift how you think about what a child truly needs and begin to notice what actually lies behind a given behavior.

Give your child the chance to reflect for themselves, an opportunity you may not have had.

Choose to give your child meaningful feedback on how to respond to life. Through our experiences, we gather, sort, and archive our emotional memories as reference points. The ways we learn to respond or react to life are shaped by patterns formed in early childhood.

This foundation is built by layering memory upon memory, which shapes our abilities, perspective, and worldview. Everything can change profoundly, including mood, behavior, empathy, skills, cognitive processing, and even our immune system, simply by changing what we experience within our primary relationships.

Conscious parenting deepens your child’s basic trust in the world and ensures that your influence in their lives is regarded as reliable and safe.

Fill your children’s hearts and minds with acceptance, understanding, and trust.

It is vital to embrace these three conscious parenting guidelines as a starting point for creating a more influential, more connected relationship with your child.
