Manifesting Desires
- Category: Personal Development for Adults
What is a desire? Where does it arise from? What does desire truly mean? Is it not an inner impulse that surfaces as an image, a feeling, a thought? From what depth does it emerge and why has it arrived?
From which level of our being does a desire arise? Why do we want anything at all in life?
One person longs for a fine car, another for peace. Someone dreams of travel, another hopes to stand on the summit of the Himalayas. One wishes to be a singer, another to have many children. Someone wants to be better than others, another simply to walk. Someone prays to die, another to survive. One hopes to see, another not to be hungry, another to fly into space. The list is endless.
Think back to your childhood wishes. Once upon a time your greatest joy might have been a rattle or rolling on the floor, running, playing or something else entirely. A rattle would hardly delight you now as it once did. Recall your wishes all the way to this moment. How many were there and what were they like? How many came true and how many did not? The wishes we achieved made us happy, yet after a while their sparkle faded. New wishes arrived and so it goes. Where does it end? There is no end. Why? Because our desires are the driving current of evolution. To realize anything we need to act, to learn, to pass through different experiences, to grow. That is why we are here. Evolution and the exploration of life through many forms. Life is a tide, life is change. Change is the passing of an old form and the birth of a new one, and it happens continuously. While we explore, learn, search, act and grow, we are alive.
Life does not support stagnation. If you hope to reach a perfect state in which everything in your life is arranged and will remain that way, you are mistaken. Moments of order are part of the journey and they are to be enjoyed, while remaining aware that nothing lasts forever. Then the seeming chaos of transformation returns, the changes through which we grow, learn and evolve. When you accept this fact and truly live it, life becomes a story in which only the present moment is essential. This is the moment when life is truly happening. You begin to ride the waves of favorable and unfavorable times.
Of course, desires arise from different parts of our being. Some come from a wounded place within us, and then a wish for revenge may appear toward the one who hurt us. Some come from instinct and fundamental needs such as food or sex. Some are conditioned by upbringing and programming and believe that a given thing is good for us, so we pursue it because we think it will make us happy. Some arise from the fear that we are not good enough, so we strive to fit an image of perfection in order to be loved by others, be it the perfect appearance or the perfect job.
The desires we are meant to reach are our authentic ones, those that rise from the depths of our being and connect with the very source. These are the desires that can truly make us happy. To find them we need to dive deeper within and discover who we are. To understand the true wishes of our being, we must seek them. We need to pass through the layers that cover our truth, the desires of our heart and soul.
We need to move through the parts of ourselves that are not love and arrive at the genuine love within. Then everything is transformed and our desires gain a completely new dimension. Our wishes come into harmony with ourselves, with others and with the entire universe.
